HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The NAACP monthly meeting is Thursday, May 2, at 7 p.m. in the basement of the HCC Student Union Building. The guest speaker will be Rita Valenciano from the Justice Department, Kansas City, MO.
Valenciano, a conciliation specialist with the Justice Department’s Community Relations Service (CRS), has dealt at length with how the agency works to build stronger relationships between police departments and communities. Employed as a Conciliation Specialist from 2008 - 2021 for the U.S. Department of Justice / Community Relations Service (CRS), in 2022, She is now the Training Specialist in the CRS Program Development division.
She trains conciliation specialists from across the country to provide programs that assist in addressing perceived or actual discrimination or harassment based upon race, color or national origin under Title X of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. All are welcome.
