🏀 WBB: Blue Dragons honored by House and Senate Tuesday in Topeka

TOPEKA, Kan. — The Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team spent its Tuesday morning at the Kansas State Capitol Building, as the team was honored for its unbeaten national championship season.

The team was first honored by the House of Representatives, followed by recognition by the Senate.

The Blue Dragons claimed the NJCAA national title on April 1 with an 88-80 overtime win over Northwest Florida State to claim its first-ever national title in the programs 50-year history. The team also finished with a perfect 37-0 record.

HutchCC head coach John Ontjes presented Speaker of the House Dan Hawkins, a HutchCC native with a national championship t-shirt.

Senator Mark Steffen, a Hutchinson native, announced the proclamation for the Blue Dragons in the Senate.
