HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Mayor Greg Fast told Hutch Post Monday that the water main issue on Severance is still not resolved, and may not be for a while.

"We are continuing to wait on those parts to come in," Fast said. "It probably will not be open on May 13, as projected. As we wait, we will keep the public informed. It is a big inconvenience, as it is a major thoroughfare there."

On April 18, a significant break occurred in the 24-inch waterline under Severance Street, between 17th and 23rd Avenues.

Immediate repair efforts included the installation of a clamp on the damaged section. Unfortunately, the initial clamp was not able to completely seal the leak.

As a result of the ongoing repair work, Severance Street will remain closed. They don't have a firm reopening date at this point.
