Police ID 79-year-old victim in deadly Kansas knife attack

SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities investigating a deadly knife attack and have identified the victim as Ross L. Fapp, 79, of Topeka.

Just after 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, police responded to the 400 Block of SW Woodlawn Avenue in Topeka on the report of a stabbing, according to Police Lt. Edward Stanley.

Officers located two individuals suffering from a stab wound. Both individuals were transported to a local area hospital where Ross Frapp died. The other individual’s injuries were considered non-life threatening. 

A third person later identified as 38-year-old Robert W. Fapp of Topeka, who was believed to be involved in the incident, was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Law Enforcement center to speak with detectives.

As a result of the investigation, Fapp was transported to the Shawnee County Department of Corrections where he was booked in on requested charges of Murder in the 1st degree; In the commission of a felony and Aggravated Battery, according to online jail records.
