NEWTON, Kan. — Milling and overlay of Main Street from the BNSF Railway crossing to 11th Street is scheduled to begin next week.
The contractor, APAC, will begin milling the asphalt on Monday, May 13, beginning with the outside lanes. Any additional needed patch work will then be completed, followed by asphalt overlay.
The contractor’s goal is to have all milling, patching and overlay completed before Memorial Day weekend, weather permitting. All phases are expected to be complete by the end of June.
The $1.5 million project is funded in part by the Kansas Department of Transportation’s City Connecting Links Improvement Program (CCLIP).
