WICHITA, Kan. -- Five Oklahoma State pitchers combined on a five-hit shutout as the Cowboys bested Wichita State 3-0 on Tuesday night at Eck Stadium.

Both starting pitchers were dominant on a bitterly cold evening that made offense hard to come by.

Wichita State's Tyler Dobbs carried a no-hitter into the seventh and Oklahoma State's Janzen Keisel allowed just two hits over five scoreless innings.

The Cowboys (16-9) finally broke through against Dobbs in the top of the seventh, getting a leadoff walk and a single from Nolan Schubart to put runners at the corners with nobody out.

A sacrifice fly from Colin Brueggemann put the first run on the board and later in the inning Avery Ortiz rapped a two-out RBI single against reliever Caleb Anderson to add a second run.Kollin Ritchie contributed an insurance run in the top of the ninth with a run-scoring single of his own that produced the final margin.

Wichita State (15-9) had two chances late against the Cowboys bullpen but could not deliver a big hit. In the eighth, Kam Durnin worked a one-out walk which was followed by a Camden Johnson single and a Dayvin Johnson hit by pitch to load the bases.

Oklahoma State summoned reliever Robert Cranz, who got a strikeout and a fly out to escape the jam.In the ninth, a pair of singles from Derek Williams and Mauricio Millan put runners at the corners with one out, but Cranz retired pinch hitter Josh Livingston on a foul pop out and Durnin on a grounder to second to nail down his first save.

Ryan Ure (1-0) picked up the win for Oklahoma State in his first appearance of the season, logging a scoreless sixth. Dobbs (4-2) was saddled with the loss despite allowing just one hit over a season-high 6.1 innings while striking out five.

Wichita State returns to American Athletic Conference play on Thursday night against Rice. First pitch of the series opener from Eck Stadium is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
