HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Soroptimists Women's Show and the Family Health Fair are together in the Meadowlark Building on the Kansas State Fairgrounds on Saturday.
"This is our 21st year hosting the Women's Fair in Hutchinson," said Jane Holzrichter with the Soroptimists. "We are really excited to go in one building this year and share the wealth."
The event is free to attend for the first time, but fundraising from booth sales at the fair helps the Soroptimists with scholarships for women.
"We are looking at approximately 160 booths," Holzrichter said. "We offer scholarships each year for women that are going into college and they need to just have a little assistance. We do not put a disclaimer on how they can spend the money, as long as they are going after higher education."
The Family Health Fair, sponored by PrairieStar Health Center for the 15th year, will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the women's show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
We're bringing back the carotids," Holzrichter said. "That was something that was missed over the last couple of years. The hospital is bringing back some of those screenings that have been so popular. Glucose screenings and carotid doppler and things like that."
