StartUp Hutch announces new board members

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — StartUp Hutch announces the addition of three new members to their board of directors: Shelly Bartel, Melissa Moodie, and Amy Brennan. 

"We're thrilled to welcome Shelly, Melissa, and Amy to our board of directors," said Jackson Swearer, StartUp Hutch Executive Director. "Their diverse experiences and expertise will enhance our mission to support local entrepreneurs and drive innovation in our community." 

Shelly Bartel is a 5th generation business owner, managing three small businesses, including Bartel Kitchen and Bath, a 50-year-old family business. Bartel also serves as an independent stylist with Colorstreet and runs JBG, a rental company. Through StartUp Hutch's resources and classes, Bartel has learned to leverage both victories and challenges for the success of her ventures. 

Melissa Moodie resides in Hutchinson with her family and is a practicing attorney with the Hinkle Law Firm. She is passionate about supporting entrepreneurs and believes they are key drivers for economic growth and stability within the community. Moodie is motivated by new ideas and looks forward to aiding StartUp Hutch in providing valuable resources and programming for entrepreneurs. 

Amy Brennan brings 27 years of experience in the financial services industry, with 25 years as a commercial lender assisting clients in Hutchinson and South-Central Kansas. Brennan collaborates closely with businesses to identify their needs and chart paths to success. She also serves as board president for Rise Up Reno Prevention Network. 

The new members join existing board members Nick Baldetti (Board Chair, Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System), Brett Henry (Treasurer, Adams Brown Strategic Allies and CPAs), Eric Spurgeon (Vice-Chair, Tarhun 3D), Johannah Moore (Secretary, Peoples Bank and Trust Co), Bryce McFarland (Hutchinson Community College), Shane Iwashige (The Rock Group), Jessica Schmidt (Reign Real Estate), and Dave Patterson (Hubco Inc). 

Additionally, StartUp Hutch bids farewell to Jeni Bryan and thanks her for her service, as she is retiring from the board after completing her term.
