Arrest made connected with Friday Hutchinson stabbing

Hutchinson Police Department

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — May 3, 2024 at approximately 4:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1300 block of North Arthur in Hutchinson for a stabbing.

When officers arrived on scene, they located a female victim with life threatening injuries. The victim was transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center and later to a Wichita hospital where she remains in serious, but stable condition.

A suspect was identified and at approximately 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024, Joseph D. Castorena, 41, of Hutchinson, was arrested for Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Sexual Battery, and Parole Violation.
