HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Police Department stepped up seat belt enforcement in the area of high schools from Feb 26 through March 9.
Three officers — two traffic officers and one school resource officer — enforced the safety checks.
Officers worked a total of 13.5 hours around the high school. This resulted in 34 adult seat belt citations, 17 citations for drivers ages 14- to 17-years-old and three for passengers 8- to 13-years old.
They also made contact with two suspended drivers and one with no driver’s license.
One person was arrested on a warrant for a suspended license.
