Reno County residents can get information on the Head Start and Early Head Start programs during a series of application clinics in in February.
Head Start is a Monday to Thursday half-day center-based preschool program while Early Head Start is a once-a-week, personalized 90-minute home-based program. Children have to be 3 or 4 years old on or before August 31 of the year enrolled to be eligible for Head Start. Children who are too young for Head Start may be eligible for Early Head Start.
Head Start and Early Head Start both offer early education services along with the additional support of health/dental services, nutrition services, family/social services and mental health services.
To complete an application for either program, a parent or legal guardian needs to bring documentation of birth (birth certificate, hospital certificate, medical card, immunization record, etc.) and documentation of income (any and all income for the previous 12 months, including tax statements, W-2s, pay stubs, child support, cash assistance, benefits statements and any other income).
