HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Central Christian Cougars sailed past the South Haven Cardinals in Friday night’s game 64-12.
Central Christian’s tight end Adam Hall scored the game’s first touchdown less than a minute into the contest.
The Cougars scored again when Garrett Burns ran into the end zone. With 8:27 left in the first quarter, Central Christian was up 12-0.
Only seconds after the Cougar touchdown, Cardinal Taylor Mclain took the return and was tackled by Deonis Coon less than 10 yards from pay dirt. South Haven scored its first touchdown to make the score 12-6 with 8:13 left in the first quarter.
With 7:17 remaining in the first quarter, the Cougars’ Garrett Burns scored his second touchdown of the night to put Central Christian up 20-6.
Two minutes later, the Cougars intercepted a pass from the Cardinals to push the score to 28-6.
Central Christian’s Marshall Walton scored a touchdown with 2:30 left before the second quarter to make it 34-6.
The third touchdown for Garrett Burns in the first quarter made it 42-6.
Central Christian scored 22 more points against South Haven, who couldn’t seem to find the end zone.
The Cougars (6-2) are district runner-up and will play at home next week.
