GARDEN CITY, Kan. — Sophomore Wil Arnold put together his best round of the week to lead the No. 10 Hutchinson Community College men’s golf team at the 2017 NJCAA Division I Men’s Golf Tournament at Buffalo Dunes Country Club.
Arnold shot a 2-over 74 to lead the Dragons in Thursday’s third round. That helped the Blue Dragons shoot 307 on Thursday. Doug Rios-Ceballos shot a 76, Jack Lanham posted a 77, Cole Gritton had an 80 and Matt Percy had an 81.
The Blue Dragons have a 54-hole score of 926, which is 14 strokes out of 10th place. Hutchinson is bidding to finish in the Top 10 of the national tournament for the third-straight season.
Indian Hills made a huge move on Thursday to claim first place in the team race heading into Friday’s final round. Indian Hills shot a 288 to take a one-stroke lead over Odessa 872-873.
Individually, Arnold, Rios-Ceballos and Gritton are all tied for 51st with 54-hole scores of 232. Lanham is tied for 57th at 233 and Percy is tied for 83rd at 243.
The Blue Dragons will be paired with John A. Logan and Eastern Arizona in Friday’s final round. Tee times will be from 8:40 to 9:20 a.m.
