Around 1:30 p-m, Thursday, a Reno County Sheriff Deputy was patrolling in the area of Yoder Rd. and Pleasant Valley Rd. The deputy came across a 2002 Chrysler mini van that had been traveling south bound on Yoder Rd. The vehicle left the roadway going into the ditch on the right side of the roadway and continued traveling southbound. It then struck a culvert before striking a barb wire fence before coming to rest.
The driver was 76-year-old Jacqueline Spencer of Haven. She was transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center by Haven EMS. A short time after arriving at the emergency room, she passed away.
Her passenger and husband, 77-year-old Marshal Spencer was transported to Via-Cristi St Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita also with critical injuries. His current condition is unknown.
Neither of the two were wearing seat belts.
The accident is still under investigation.
