Two In Manhattan Arrested For Murder And Arson

MANHATTAN – On Friday, Riley County Police Department arrested two people in association with the structure fire that led to the death of 34-year-old Vasanta Pallem at 820 Sunset Ave.

20-year-old, Patrick Martin Scahill and 19-year-old, Virginia Amanda Griese are charged with felony murder and aggravated arson and jailed on 1-million dollar bonds.

The fire was determined to be intentionally set, as a result of the ongoing investigation by Riley County Police Department.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Manhattan Fire Department. the Kansas State Fire Marshall with the assistance of the KBI and others assisted in the investigation.

Further details regarding the investigation have not been released.
