High Speed Accident Kills Hutchinson Woman

Fatal Accident

Hutchinson Police were dispatched to the 1700 Block of East 2nd Ave around 5:45 p-m, Friday evening on the report that an east-bound Ford Explorer collided with a tree on the north side of the street. The vehicle was operated by 45-year-old Deborah Diane Anderson of 1507 E 2nd.

A witness reported hearing the vehicle and observed the vehicle going at a high rate of speed, leave the ground and become airborne as it went over the railroad tracks just east of 2nd and Waldron. The vehicle landed and veered off the north side of the roadway and collided head on with a tree.

The witness made contact with the driver and reported the the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

Anderson was transported to Via Christi St Francis Regional Medical Center on a Lifeteam helicopter with critical injuries, but died around 9:20 p-m.

It’s unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision. There were no other occupants.

The collision is still under investigation.
