Reno County Sheriff Officials have now identified who was driving a vehicle that crashed near 82nd & Riverton Road.
He was identified as 22-year-old Kyle Smith, of rural Hutchinson.
He reported to sheriff officials of being knocked unconscious and has a scratch on his eye. But, he never sought medical treatment.
It was just before midnight on Saturday, when deputies responded to that location for the report of a rollover crash scene. When they arrived, they found a 2002 Chevy Cavalier resting on it’s top next to a broken utility pole with significant damage to the car. But, the driver was not there.
A search of the area was done by District 3 Fire, Nickerson E-M-S, and the deputies. No one was found.
The vehicles owner, Daniel Smith, of Hutchinson was contacted and he advised the officers who he thought had the vehicle and attempts were made to locate that individual.
The area hospitals were contacted as well with no reports of anyone coming in that may have been involved in this incident.
He was apparently eastbound on 82nd just east of Riverton Rd., when his vehicle went into the south ditch and struck the utility pole breaking it off and causing the car to roll onto it’s top.
Smith has not be charged with any crime thus far, but the investigation continues.
