Officials with the Buhler School District are apparently going through the process with the city for all the planning for a new grade school to be built at 901 East 43rd on the north side of Hutchinson.
The new school once complete would replace two aging grade school’s in the district. That includes the Obee School east of Hutchinson, and Prosperity located just north of the Hutchinson city limits on Plum Street.
The issue of the new school apparently came before the city planning commission Tuesday where a public hearing was set for February 5. The district wants the school in what is an R-4 District. They also want a variance from the maximum of 78- parking stalls. They want to add 122-stalls at the school location.
The plan for the new elementary school is part of the 44.9-million dollar bond issue approved by voters last year.
