A 36-year-old Hutchinson man was taken to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center after a one vehicle crash Tuesday morning.
At around 9:45 a-m, Reno County Sheriff’s Deputies, Hutchinson Fire, and Reno County EMS were dispatched to a roll over crash scene at 4th Ave. and Augustine Dr.
When the deputies arrived, they found a silver Pontiac Grand Prix with major damage in the south ditch.
They also found Joshua Rund walking east bound away from the scene and it was obvious that he had been injured in the crash. Rund and other witnesses confirmed that he was the passenger in the vehicle and the driver had gotten out and ran from the scene.
The investigation shows that the vehicle had been east bound on 4th at a high rate of speed and left the roadway on the right into the south ditch and struck a steel fence and then rolled multiple times.
Rund was transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center with head, neck, and back injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.
Sheriff officials are not releasing the drivers name due to the on going investigation of the accident as well as other incidents he may be a suspect in.
According to the witnesses he did not appear to have any injuries from the crash.
