Just before 9 a-m, Thursday, Reno County Sheriff’s Deputies, Haven Fire and EMS, were dispatched to a two vehicle accident in the 21-thousand block of south Worthington Rd.

19-year-old Kelsey Schmidt of Mt. Hope was pulling out of a driveway, and just caught a glimpse of a vehicle traveling northbound on Worthington.

The second vehicle, a 1993, International dump truck, was driven by 49-year-old Darrel Koch, of Kingman.

Schmidt tried to avoid being hit and changed lanes and Koch also tried to avoid the accident and swerved into the same lane as Schmidt and the two vehicles collided.

Schmidt had to be extricated from her vehicle by Haven Fire and EMS personnel, and transported to Via-Cristi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita, with unknown type injuries. Koch was not injured.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
