Halstead Man Charged With Involuntary Manslaughter From Fatal Wreck

A 42-year-old Halstead man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, a result of a fatality accident back on February 10.

Troy Mietler is also charged with aggravated battery and DUI for the same accident. He made an appearance around 11 a.m. Friday morning, where he was read the formal complaint.

He apparently crossed the center line with his vehicle and struck the vehicle driven by 49-year-old Brian Bush head-on. He was killed instantly. 50-year-old Annette Bush was badly injured and taken to a Wichita hospital where she later died.

The accident occurring on U-S 50, about 3 miles west of Abbyville.

Mietler apparently turned himself in after learning there was a warrant for his arrest. He apparently has been working in Oklahoma.

He was able to post a 60-thousand dollar cash bond and will be in court as part of a waiver-status docket on December 11.
