McPHERSON – Led by top-seven finishes by freshmen Ashlynn Lambert and Cecilia Lane, the 17th-ranked Hutchinson Community College women’s cross country team won its second invitational of the season, winning the McPherson College Lakeside Shootout on Saturday.
Running just five athletes, the Lady Dragons made their performances count as Hutchinson edged Sterling College by five points, 35-40. McPherson College was third with 45 points.
This was the first time in three weeks that the Lady Dragons have competed.
Lambert led the way for the Lady Dragons on Saturday, finished fourth overall with a time of 20 minutes, 28.7 seconds over the wet and muddy 5K course. It’s the second time this season Lambert has been Hutchinson’s top runner.
