PARSONS – A 38-year-old Cherryvale woman has pleaded guilty to charges of Medicaid fraud and will be ordered to repay more than $18,000.

Shannon Menzer pleaded guilty charges of unlawful acts relating to the Medicaid program, making a false claim to the Medicaid program, conspiracy to make a false claim to the Medicaid program and two counts of making a false information Tuesday afternoon in Labette County District Court. Menzer’s plea agreement requires her to repay $18,359.56 the Kansas Medicaid program.

The charges stemmed from an investigation into home health care billings by several employees and independent care attendants who used Southeast Kansas Independent Living Center (SKIL) as their payroll agent.

Eight defendants have now pleaded guilty to charges stemming from this investigation and been ordered to repay nearly $90,000. Charges against three other individuals remain pending.

The pleas were accepted by Judge Robert J. Fleming. The judge scheduled sentencing for December 3 at 1 p.m.
