Two Injured After Car-Train Collision Near Langdon

LANGDON – Two people were taken to the hospital in Hutchinson after a car-train collision near Langdon in southern Reno County Saturday.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Ben Cody Tucker of St. John came to a railroad crossing while southbound on Avery Road. He saw the train, but tried to beat it across the crossing and his vehicle was struck by the train.

He was not injured, but two passengers were. 20-year-old Perla P. Desantiago-Rodriquez and 20-year-old Johnathan Paul Whitecloud, Hysom were both taken to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

The engineer of the train, 31-year-old Alexander L. Decker of Manhattan was not injured.

The accident occurring just before 7 p.m., about 3-miles north of Langdon at K-61.
