WALTON – Harvey County have released the names of the victims of a vehicle-train collision near Walton, Saturday.
The driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Taylor Sowell, was killed from massive head injuries, while her husband, 20-year-old Dylan Sowell, suffered critical injuries and was flown to Wesley Medical Center by Life Team helicopter. The driver’s 17-year-old brother, Kyle Malek, was transported by ambulance to Wesley Medical Center also with head injuries.
It was on Saturday afternoon around 12:15 p-m, when emergency personnel were dispatched to the railroad crossing at NE 48th and U-S Highway 50 in Harvey County.
Taylor Sowell was westbound on NE 48th in her 2000 Dodge Intrepid when her vehicle collided with a BNSF freight train, traveling eastbound.
The railroad crossing at the location does not have flashing lights or gates.
All three victims were Harvey County residents.
