The Tabor College and McPherson College football game scheduled for Oct. 20, 2012, has been cancelled, announced Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference commissioner Scott Crawford today.
The decision was based upon the desire to honor the memory of Brandon Brown, a Tabor College student and football player, and to respect the needs of an ongoing criminal investigation.
The presidents of both colleges support the decision and believe that it is in the best interests for everyone.
Tabor College President Jules Glanzer and McPherson College President Michael Schneider made a joint comment on the decision.
“The focus of both the McPherson College and Tabor College communities must be on our students right now,” they said. “We are committed to support each other, to pray for each other and to unite our students in peace. We are planning a series of events in the coming year between Tabor and McPherson to continue developing the harmony between our communities. We will continue to find opportunities for our campus families to heal together following this tragedy.”
