A 19-year-old Hutchinson man convicted of numerous burglary and theft charges, as well as sexual exploitation of a child is off to prison for 41 months. That was the sentence handed down Friday by Judge Tim Chambers
Kenneth Thompson was convicted of breaking into the home of then Hutchinson Mayor Ron Sellers, plus numerous others, all occurring in February of this year.
Thompson argued in court for a downward departure to allow for community corrections. However, Judge Chambers could not find any substantial or compelling reason to depart and the sentence was ordered served.
Sellers was credited with helping catch Thompson when he apparently watched his home being invaded. He then called police leading to the 19-year-old’s arrest.
Police recovered numerous items believed to have been stolen by Thompson and also allegedly found pictures of children under the age of 18.
