A 24-year-old South Hutchinson woman was flown to a Wichita hospital after a car/semi collision at U-S 50 & Airport Road Friday evening. Tammy Ann Lenz was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 27-year-old Roby Deann Herbst of Nickerson. Lenz was flown to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Herbst and another passenger in her vehicle, 24-year-old William Dale Myers were both taken to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

The driver of the Kenworth semi was identified as 45-year-old Robert Magee of Williamsburg, Kansas. He was not injured.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Lenz vehicle was westbound on U-S 50, while the semi was eastbound. Lenz vehicle crossed the center line striking the driver’s side of the semi. Her vehicle rolled one time and came to rest on in the south ditch on its wheels. Magee performed an evasive maneuver, pulled back into the lane of traffic and stopped.

The accident actually occurred just east of the intersection and was reported just before 2 p-m.

  • Reroute driver

Maybe the should have a sign up 96 saying rd construction yoder rd and 50 so it wouldn’t be so congested or made that area the focal point to get done first knowing the fair was coming up

    • pay attention

Maybe people should pay attention when they drive that road construction has been going on for around 3 years now and everyone knows to drive careful when the ks state fair is here but no one does they just drive and they have to be the first one and they have no patience I know cause I drive a bus every day and I see the stupidest stuff drivers do
