A 25-year-old Clinton, Missouri man has been arrested after a warrant was issued in a Reno County child sex case, and he’s now jailed on 100-thousand dollar bond.

Erik Wayne Reyes was captured after he allegedly ran back to Clinton, Missouri. He refused to waive extradition, so the Reno County District Attorney Office sought and obtained a Governor’s warrant. He was able to post a bond in Missouri and failed to appear on a fugitive from justice warrant based on the Reno County case, according to District Attorney Keith Schroeder. He says, “we then had to go to Missouri and hunt him down.”

He was brought back to Reno County Tuesday to face the charge of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. The charge alleges that he engaged in unlawful sexual conduct with an underage child in this case, an 8-year-old girl. The alleged crime occurring back on June 5, 2011. It’s believed he was involved with the child’s mother according to South Hutchinson Police Chief Scott Jones. The case came to light and SRS assisted in the investigation of the alleged abuse along with South Hutchinson Police.

He did make an appearance Wednesday in Reno County District Court via-video from the Reno County Jail, and his bond was increased to 100-thousand dollars, based partly on his failure to abide by warrants issued in Missouri.

His case will now be placed on a waiver-status docket for August 8.
