Hutchinson Monarchs gets six strikeouts from Martin, win 4-1 over VC Diamond Dawgs

Shane Martin hopes every outing could go as well as Friday, as Martin threw seven scoreless innings to carry Hutchinson Monarchs to a 4-1 victory over VC Diamond Dawgs at Hutchinson,Ks-Hobart/Detter.

Tyler Detmer was hot from the plate for Hutchinson Monarchs. Detmer went 3-4 and scored one run. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the third and fourth innings.

The game’s last lead went to Hutchinson Monarchs thanks to a third inning rally that saw two runs cross the plate on an error and a sacrifice fly by Jordan Pearson.

Hutchinson Monarchs scored one run in the fourth inning, and then followed it up with one more in the seventh. In the fourth, Hutchinson Monarchs scored on an error, plating Zachary Leighton.

VC Diamond Dawgs scored its only run of the game on a groundout by Tino Trujillo in the ninth inning.
